This Australian Outback Adventure, Reef, and Sydney vacation gives you the chance to experience the magic of the Australian outback, plus discover iconic attractions like the Great Barrier Reef and cosmopolitan Sydney. It was planned for a couple from Houston who wanted a mix of must-sees and some activities off the beaten path.
They started their Australian Outback Adventure, Reef, and Sydney vacation at Uluru/Ayers Rock, the heart of Australia’s Red Centre. Here, they had a magical dinner under the stars, and the next day they went skydiving over Uluru! Then, they had a sunrise tour of Uluru to see this impressive monolith changing colors with the rising sun.
Their adventures in the outback continued in the ruggedly beautiful landscapes of Kings Canyon. With the help of an expert guide, they made the difficult but rewarding climb to the top of Kings Canyon and were treated to absolutely breathtaking views of the gorge lighting up at sunrise. Then, they continued on to Alice Springs, where they had some leisure time to relax and reminisce about their amazing time in the outback.
Continuing their Australian Outback Adventure, Reef, and Sydney vacation, they flew to Port Douglas, gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and another UNESCO World Heritage Site, the ancient Daintree Rainforest. They stayed at a fabulous resort in this charming beach town, and their room was just steps away from the gorgeous pool. They went snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef, and had the rest of the time at leisure to explore or relax as they wished.
Finally for their Australian Outback Adventure, Reef, and Sydney vacation, they flew down to sunny Sydney. They stayed in one of our favorite centrally located hotels, the Shangri-La Hotel Sydney, which gave them gorgeous views of the city from their spacious room. In Sydney, they took a fun bike tour of the city to catch the highlights, including the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. They even stopped for a pint in a local pub.

This Highlights of Australia: Rock, Reef, and Sydney package is perfect for those who want to see Australia’s highlights with some unique Aboriginal experiences. We designed this trip for a couple from Oregon who wanted to learn about Australia’s history and Aboriginal culture.
They started their Highlights of Australia journey at Uluru/Ayers Rock, in the spiritual heart of Australia. This massive monolith is sacred to the indigenous Anangu people, and it’s easy to see why when it magically transforms with the changing daylight. They were able to watch Uluru come to life at sunrise on a guided tour where they learned about Aboriginal legends, as well as the natural environment. Then they set out on camelback for a sunset tour. They also had a magical Sounds of Silence dinner experience under the stars, complete with stargazing interpretation.
Next on their Highlights of Australia trip, they headed to Port Douglas, where they were able to explore the Great Barrier Reef and the incredible Daintree Rainforest. They had an unforgettable day diving in the reef and seeing its spectacular underwater ecosystem. They also had an unexpected highlight with an Aboriginal culture tour through the Daintree Rainforest. Their guide showed them how his ancestors used the ancient plants for food and medicine, and had them try traditional spear fishing for crabs.
The last stop on their Highlights of Australia trip was cosmopolitan Sydney. They enjoyed a fun bike tour of the city with interesting insight from a local guide. They also had a unique tour of the Taronga Zoo, where they learned creation legends from an Aboriginal guide and enjoyed interactive experiences with iconic Australian wildlife, like kangaroos and koalas.
At last, their incredible Highlights of Australia vacation came to an end. They enjoyed a private transfer to the airport, where they began their journey home.

Visiting New Zealand – Which Island Should I Visit, North, South, or Both?
New Zealand, with it’s remarkable scenery, endless adventures and pure beauty, the question when visiting is if you should visit the North, South or both! This entirely depends on your travel times. Ideally, you would do both! Each island has unique, individual attractions. If you have limited time, perhaps choose one island to thoroughly explore as opposed to trying to rush them both. There’s always next time! So to help you decide here’s a quick overview of what you can expect:
Check out our most popular vacations that include both Australia & New Zealand!
If you’re more of a sun and sand kind of person, then the North is for you. The North is warmer with many accessible surf beaches, coves and sheltered bays – the North is also home to geothermal Rotorua, all of New Zealand’s active volcanoes, and the country’s capital city Wellington. It boasts the longest beach in New Zealand (Ninety Mile Beach) and its sub-tropical Bay of Island region is known for its white sand and crystal clear waters.
The South Island
If you love mountains, vineyards and dramatic scenery, then the South is the island for you. Witness The Southern Alps running the length of the country and some of the most remarkable views in the country. Renowned for it’s hiking, the South has five of New Zealand’s ‘Great Walks,’ multiple award-winning wineries, glaciers, rainforest, lakes and dusty plains. It is also home to the adventure capital of New Zealand, Queenstown.

If you have ever had the pleasure of speaking with airline pilots and crew, there are always some interesting stories and good travel tips. For most pilots, it is truly enjoyable to serve passengers – for the very few who make their jobs difficult, it is probably because the very few did not follow basic rules. Read 5 things passengers should never do and make your next trip their pleasure…
Check out our most popular vacations that include both Australia & New Zealand!
When the crew tells you to stay put, heed their advice. Once on-board, you cannot get off, and if you try, you may find yourself escorted off, by law enforcement! Just relax and listen to the crew, they have your safety and enjoyment in mind.
Do NOT mess with the crew
Passengers who mess with flight attendants and other members of airline crews generally regret it; they get kicked off flights, arrested and even jailed. Examples of this happening are events such as a passenger who made sexist remarks to a flight attendant during a safety demo was reportedly ordered off the flight.
Do NOT overindulge in alcohol
It is rare that too much alcohol brings the best out in anyone. Crew and pilots have seen abusive and threatening behavior after imbibing in too much drink. Save yourself, and others the hassle, and limit your alcohol when flying.
Do NOT unbuckle your seatbelt
This is strictly a safety precaution because of turbulence. Most pilots fly around turbulence-causing storms, but, clear air turbulence cannot be detected visually or by conventional weather radar. Those who aren’t buckled up during turbulence can and do get hurt.
Do NOT make a pilot get out of the cockpit!
Many people heard about the 25 year old passenger who was shoving a flight attendant, which then prompted an American Airlines pilot to have to tackle the passenger, the entire ordeal wound up on the internet and the passenger ended up in court. There is no need to provoke anyone to the point they have to leave their cockpit to deal with an unruly passenger, it’s just not safe.
Summer is almost here — we can’t believe it either! Now is the perfect time to start planning your summer dream vacation. Don’t delay, and to make planning even easier, we have listed some handy planning tips you can use while planning your vacation. Read these Summer Travel Tips and contact a Travel Team Agent to start planning the perfect vacation!

First things first. Even if you don’t have a specific trip in mind, get your passport. Processing times for passports and travel documents can take a month or more, and that great new travel deal can be here and gone in as quick as 24 hours! Some travel deals are too good to pass up and you have to act fast, be prepared and have all of your travel documents ready to go.
Pick a Price Range
Know your price range. If you set aside a budget and save money for a trip, you are more likely to take that dream vacation if you plan ahead of time. By choosing and sticking to a price range you could also set a clear idea of what you want to do on your trip. Once that goal is set, you’ll feel more comfortable in locating and purchasing your vacation.
Pick the Vacation that Suits Your Personality
Would you rather lie on the beach all day or see as many sights as you can? It’s best to identify the type of vacation you and your travel companions want up front. There are many vacations to consider, pick the place best suited for you. For instance, do you want a beach vacation, city vacation, or an outdoor vacation? These are all things to consider when planning your vacation. If you want to lounge on the beach and do as little as possible, you probably won’t want to go on a vacation that has a lot of active tours; or if you want to explore the sights of a city, you probably want to choose a vacation with tours, guides and experiences to get the most from your trip. If you aren’t sure, just ask a Travel Team Agent, we can help you choose the vacation that is right for you!
Go on an All-Inclusive Vacation
Bundled pricing makes your vacation planning easy. When you choose an All-Inclusive vacation, you will get some of the best prices, and these vacations are perfect for a variety of people, from honeymooners, wedding goers, families, and those wanting a beach vacation. Everyone can eat, stay and play at an all-inclusive resort with one set price. Most resorts offer a ‘kids camp’ so that the parents can enjoy some downtime with a fruity drink and a book by the pool.
It is important to understand how thee seasons might affect your vacation and what goes on seasonally in a particular destination. For instance, masses of people attend Carnival in Brazil in February, maybe you want to avoid that for a more calm trip. Are you planning on visiting Pamplona, Spain? Great, did you want to be there for the Running of the Bulls in July? If running with the bulls is not your goal, maybe choose a different time of year to go. Thinking of Cancun? College kids flood Cancun for Spring Break. These events drive prices up. On the flip side, consider where has summer holidays because the locals are on holiday so it will be cheaper to you than busier times of year. Paris and other European cities are quiet during August because locals are on summer holiday, this might be the perfect time for you as you will have more access to things, and also receive lower rates.

Many of us often over pack and with things we may not need. What you don’t pack can be as important as what you do pack. Read this list and it will help you avoid extra fees and hassles when traveling…
Check out our most popular vacations that include both Australia & New Zealand!
Do not pack diamond earrings (or rubies or sapphires or similar) or anything of value that you’d hate to lose. Stuff goes missing, things get stolen, items get broken. You cannot count on airlines to cover your losses. If you must bring diamond earrings, wear them or pack them in a carry-on and then place them in a hotel safe. Better yet, leave the jewelry at home.
Airline, airport and security lost & found departments are filled with expensive electronics that are without owners because they cannot be identified. Make it for easier on everyone, tape or glue temporary tags to items that include your phone and/or email (a business card will do).
Alcohol
Unless it’s in a checked-bag, security will confiscate it. Tip: Buy your bottles at your destination, or ship such gifts ahead along with other bulky or fragile items.
When checking a bag, large or medium size bottles of shampoo, conditioner, sun screen, hand lotion and face cream take up alot of space, plus overweight fees can reach $200 or more. If staying with relatives, help yourself to their stuff and do the same for them when they visit you. If staying at a hotel, many provide such items for free or ask for them at the front desk.
Save the space in your bag for something more important like souvenirs. Hair dryers are standard bathroom fixtures in even the cheapest motels.
Books
Load up on E-books. You will save space and be able to take as many books as you like, at your fingertips without lugging a bag of heavy books around.
Three pairs of shoes
Most of us can make do with two: a good pair of walking shoes and maybe something dressier or a pair of sandals, depending on the destination. Suggestion: Wear one pair, pack the other. Pack each shoe in a separate plastic bag, so they won’t dirty clothes.
Check out our most popular vacations that include both Australia & New Zealand!
Nobody really cares what you wear when you travel, and unless your clothing is totally outlandish. Go ahead and repeat outfits. Avoid new stuff because it is better to wear things you know are comfortable and know look good on you. Pack just enough clothes that are appropriate to the destination, so you can forget about them and focus on sightseeing.
Excess cash and cards
Don’t travel with more than two credit cards and carry them in different places. This way, if one goes missing, it’s not the end of the world. Record your card numbers and keep it somewhere outside your wallet, plus make sure someone back home has this info.
A Big Bag
You may be surprised that you can be alright with just a carry-on bag. If you must bring a big bag, try sharing it.

What’s Better? Booking with a Travel Agent vs. Booking Online
Online booking has become quite popular in recent years, yet did you know that online booking may not be the best choice for planning your next personal or business trip? Travel agencies have the ability to offer clients incredible savings, upgrades, services, and resources that booking online just can’t match. Here are 5 huge benefits that you get when using a travel agent versus online booking:
Sure you can find a seemingly good deal on the internet, but is it really the best deal out there? You can actually spend much less when you book through a travel agent. When you book online, you see the best price right now, travel agents are able to get you the absolute best price because of access to savings, promotions, exclusive deals that may not be available to the public and more.
Upgrades and Perks:
Travel agents can often offer special treatments, services and more for hotels, airlines and restaurants that you just can’t get by booking yourself. Because travel agents often book personal and corporate vacation travel plans for so many people, this gives them insight into which airlines and venues are offering the best upgrades, deals and perks. Don’t be surprised if your Travel Team Agent is able to get you a nicer trip or an exciting upgrade, for less than you would have spent if you booked yourself.
24/7 Personal Service:
When you book with a travel agency like the Travel Team, your agent will give you personalized service and attention, complete with a full itinerary and recommendations for hotels, entertainment, transportation and more. Need a last minute change? Your travel agent can help.
Travel agents have years of experience behind them, along with special access to resources you don’t. Travel agents may often have an easier time canceling or re-booking certain things, sometimes without extra fees. Anything you need is usually at their fingertips.
Planning a trip and booking it can take hours. It is no secret that trip planning takes time, no matter how often you do it. A travel agent can do all of the research, planning and shopping for you. Travel Team Agents have been planning dream vacations for people just like you for over 40 years. If you are looking to book a trip, airfare or a destination wedding, contact a travel team agent today at 1-800-788-0829!

If you think packing for a trip is a chore, this is for you: A list of essentials – the things you must pack and things that are often forgotten, be prepared by sticking to this handy list….
Check out our most popular vacations that include both Australia & New Zealand!
Electronic accessories: We know you won’t forget your phone because it’s attached to your hand but do NOT forget: Charger cords, ear buds and headphones, maybe a portable charger, whatever you need to stay in touch. Keep this stuff in a carry-on bag or on your person so you can get to it when you need it!
International electronic stuff: Be sure you have the right power adapter plugs so you can use your charger cord (here’s a country guide to adapters). And don’t forget to contact your provider well ahead of your trip so you don’t get slammed by a big bill for international charges.
Cash and cards: If you want to buy a snack or meal on a plane, you’ll need a card. You won’t need much cash, but bring some.
Tip: If you’ll be heading to another country, go to the bank and get a couple of hundred dollars’ worth of local currency so you can hit the ground running. Use it on a trip to Sydney.
Documents and photos: Again, print your boarding pass and save it along with any luggage tags just in case there’s a problem with your flight or bags. If traveling internationally, photocopy your passport, carry a couple of extra passport photos and keep them separate from the original; it will be useful if you have to go to an embassy or consulate for an emergency replacement.
Check out our most popular vacations that include both Australia & New Zealand!
Snacks: You may not get hungry on that hour-and-a-half long flight from but short hops have been known to drag on for hours due to weather or mechanical problems so always carry a few granola or power bars or a similar portable snack.
Clothes you’ll really wear: The key word is comfort. Only pack clothes you love, that fit, and look good on you; if one of those three ingredients is lacking, you’ll just be wasting space. Follow a similar color scheme so the top from one outfit goes with the pants from another, etc. As for shoes, try to limit yourself to two pairs you know are comfortable; pack one, wear the other.
Bathing suit: Even if you’re not heading to the beach, toss a suit in your bag; there may be a pool at the hotel (or a trip to a lake). A suit takes up almost no room and weighs next to nothing.
Eye wear: Sunglasses are not just a fashion accessory; bring them. If you wear regular glasses, pack an extra pair. Contacts? Don’t forget the solution. Use this on a trip to Phoenix (and those glasses will come in handy if you make the three hour drive to the Grand Canyon).
Health essentials: Pack vitamins, daily medications, maybe some aspirin and upset stomach remedies plus a few Band-Aids. Complete the mini-first aid kit with hand-sanitizer wipes and use them on seatback tray tables (the most germ-ridden part of a plane).
Noise-canceling headphones: It’s not just for the music; it shuts out screaming babies or other noise on long flights so you can sleep.

Around the world, people celebrate the end of the dreary winter weather as they usher in the Spring season with unique festivals and traditions. Some date back thousands of years, while others are fairly new.
From exploding snowmen to flower festivals, check out how cultures around the world celebrate the start of the spring season.
Check out our most popular vacations that include both Australia & New Zealand!
In a tradition originating from the 16th century, people in Poland celebrate the first day of spring with dramatic fashion. Called the drowning of the Marzanna, a doll, usually made of straw, is made to symbolize the cold, dreary winter. The dolls are then paraded through the street as crowds make their way to a river or other body of water.
The decorated dolls are then tossed into the water to symbolize the end of winter’s wrath.
Switzerland- Sechseläuten
In a blunt celebration of winter’s end, the Swiss use a fiery show to ring in the new season.
A snowman is burned modern times, the rate at which the Böögg burns is seen as a predictor of summer weather. The faster the fire reaches the head of the snowman, the better the conditions are expected to be.
If it explodes in the first 6 to 10 minutes, summer will be dry and sunny. An explosion after 10 to 15 minutes of burning is supposed to indicate a rainy summer.
Bulgaria- Baba Marta
In Bulgarian, Baba Marta means “the grandmother of March,” so it’s no coincidence that the tradition starts on the first day of the month. In folklore, Baba Marta is a cranky old lady who must be treated kindly, or she will bestow more cold, bleak winter days. In modern times, Baba Marta Day is treated as a celebration of spring’s proximity.
To welcome the upcoming milder weather, Bulgarians adorn their wrists Martenitsi, or red and white bracelets that symbolize health and fertility. People hand out the red and white symbols to friends and loved ones to wish them peace and happiness.
India – Holi
In a celebration of the triumph of good over bad, the colorful Holi tradition takes place in late February or early March. The festival originated as Hindu tradition, but is now a cultural experience that has radiated to other parts of the world.
To usher in the fruitful spring season, people participate in bonfires and parties the night before Holi. The next day, the masses gather on the streets for a giant color fight, throwing dyed powder onto each other. The carefree revelry offers a chance to connect with other human beings and let go of any past hardships.
The Netherlands- Bloemencorso Bollenstreek
Known for an abundance of flowers, South Holland hosts a 12-hour-long parade that travels from Noordwijk to Haarlem. One of the region’s most anticipated spring events, the Flower Parade of the Bollenstreek is the only parade constructed of bulb flowers like hyacinths, tulips and daffodils.
Elaborate floats wander through the streets in a route that stretches more than 24 miles. Hundreds of thousands of people line up to watch the decorative and fragrant structures every April.
In a fairly new tradition, more than 400,000 flock to Australia’s capital, Canberra, for a massive flower festival each spring, which is in September, remember the seasons are flipped to ours in the Northern Hemisphere. When the season kicks off in September for the Southern Hemisphere, a month-long celebration begins.
More than one million blooms take over Canberra’s Commonwealth Park each year, offering a breathtaking display of spring color. The festival also includes concerts, art displays, horticultural workshops and other recreational activities.
Scotland- Whuppity Scoorie
Scotland’s Whuppity Scoorie tradition is so old, that no one can really pinpoint how or why it started. In Lanark, Scotland, children run around with balls made of crumpled paper swinging around their heads near dusk on the first of March. They run laps around the town’s bell, known as the Kirk, until it rings at 6 p.m. after six months of silence during the desolate winter days.
Town officials believe it originated to rid of evil spirits before the spring season started. The “Whuppity Scoorie” name was coined in the 19th century and it remains a popular tradition to this day.
Bosnia – Cimburijada
Thousands of Bosnians gather in Zenica, Bosnia, for the “Festival of Scrambled Eggs” every March as spring season begins. The focus is on the egg, a symbol of new life, as the new season starts. Mass amounts of scrambled eggs are cooked in huge pots and then handed out for free.
The tradition dates back a few hundred years and attracts visitors from around the country.
Spain- Falles
The population Valencia, Spain, triples in size during the annual festival of Fallas (or Falles) which takes place every March. Three million people turn up for a week of fiery, satirical entertainment. The week begins processions to honor Saint Joseph and ends with the incineration of ninots, the paper-mâché figurines stuffed with firecrackers.
Festival-goers often wear medieval clothing for the nonstop street party to welcome the spring season.
Japan – Hanami
Japan’s cherry blossoms are an internationally-known spring spectacle that take place from late March to early May across the country. People keep an watchful eye on the bloom forecasts, hoping to plan Hanami at peak times.
People welcome spring by hosting parties under the trees, a tradition that has taken place for centuries.
