Bangkok, the Thai capital since 1782, is a national treasure with its Buddhist temples, palaces, floating markets on small canals, legendary nightlife, and abundant shopping opportunities. It offers visitors the opportunity to experience fascinating glimpses of Thailand’s rich traditions and gentle culture amid the bustle of a diverse metropolis.
This dynamic city has successfully combined the ancient and modern worlds. Bangkok, the Thai capital since 1782, is a national treasure with its Buddhist temples, palaces, floating markets on small canals, legendary nightlife and abundant shopping opportunities. It offers visitors the opportunity to experience fascinating glimpses of Thailand’s gentle culture amid the bustle of a great and diverse metropolis.
Your stay begins with a visit to the renowned Grand Palace, the former residence of Thai kings. In this complex, you will be able to relive the splendour and pageantry of the past. A highlight will be the impressive Emerald Buddha. Continue to Wat Po, one of the oldest and largest temples in Bangkok where the large Reclining Buddha is housed. In the evening, you will take a cruise on the Chao Phraya River which cuts through the city, taking in spectacular sights on both banks including the Temple of Dawn, and the Grand Palace. Thai delicacies will be served during the cruise.The following morning, head outside the city to Damnoen Saduak to see the colourful floating market where the customers travel in their boats to the merchants who are lined up on the sides of the canals selling their wares. Also visit the tallest Buddha pagoda in the world, the Phra Pathom Chedi. After lunch at the nearby Rose Garden, you will be entertained by a Thai cultural show including music, singing and the martial arts. Return later back to Bangkok.
Chiang Mai is the principal city in the north surrounded by the highest mountains in the country. The atmosphere here is much more serene than Bangkok. With a wall surrounding the old part of the city and over 300 ancient temples, “The Rose of the North” is famous for its history, culture, spirituality, lush hills, shopping, and fascinating tribal people.
During your stay, visit the Wat Chiang Man Temple, the oldest in the city built in the 13th Century with its two statues of Buddha, one of which is made of crystal. You’ll also visit the Wat Phra Singh, built in Northern Thai classical style with its exquisite wood carvings and the Wat Chedi Luang with its Lama style chedi (a conical shaped stupa). The last temple to be visited is the Wat Suan Dok built in the 14th Century and one of the most famous for Monk studies. After this, head to the expansive Varoros Market, where you can buy almost anything. The afternoon is free to explore further, shop etc.
The next morning, travel outside the city to Doi Suthep, a temple built on top of a mountain with amazing views of the surrounding countryside and even Chiang Mai in the distance. After this, visit a hill tribe village and meet the Hmong tribe close up with their colourful outfits and a special way of life.
Fly the next day to the south of Thailand to the beach resort of Phuket, your home for the next three nights. Phuket is blessed with magnificent coves and bays, powdery white beaches, hospitable people and lushly forested mountains – everything necessary for a memorable, relaxing stay. The next morning, you will enjoy a boat ride to PhiPhi Island where the movie “The Beach” was filmed. You are free to explore the charms and serene beauty of the island. Later, you will have the opportunity to travel on a small boat to a secluded beach to swim, snorkel or just relax. After lunch here, enjoy free time before it’s time to travel back to Phuket.
The following day is totally at leisure to explore, swim, relax or go shopping as you wish.

Day 2 Half Day Grand Palace and Temple Tour
Today you will visit the famous Grand Palace, Chakri Maha Prasad, one of the most beautiful examples of an ancient Thai court. The palace was the former residence of the Thai kings. There are several things here to admire, including the Reception Hall, the Coronation Hall, the Funeral Hall, and the beautiful Temple of the Emerald Buddha, also known as “Wat Phra Kaew”. You can easily visualize the splendour and pageantry of the past.
Later, you will proceed to Wat Po, home of the enormous Reclining Buddha and one of the oldest and largest temples in Bangkok.

Enjoy a full day of sightseeing, starting with a visit to the famous floating market in Ratchaburi Province. The Damnoen Saduak Floating Market dates back to 1866 when King Rama IV ordered that a canal be dug here to connect the Mekong and Tachin rivers. The Floating Market is an ideal place to witness the traditional ways fruits and vegetables were sold and to see the way locals continue to use boats in their everyday lives. Continue to Phra Pathom Chedi, the world’s highest stupa, then visit Sampran riverside village. Here you will have the chance to engage in a variety of Thai arts and crafts workshops, including pottery, martial arts, music and dance, food and herbs, weaving and silk processing. Later in the afternoon, return to your Bangkok hotel.

Today you will explore some of Chiang Mai’s most notable temples including Wat Chiang Man, the city’s oldest temple and famed for a Chedi supported by rows of elephantine buttresses; Wat Phra Sing home to the beautiful Lai Kham chapel with its exquisite woodcarving and northern style murals; Wat Chedi Luang and its enormous Pagoda (which was partially destroyed by an earthquake in 1545); and last, Wat Suan Dok, which dates back to the 14th century when it served as gardens to the Thai Monarchy. Nowadays Wat Suan Dok contains the ashes of the Chiang Mai Royal family and also houses one of the most famous Monk Schools in Chiang Mai. Continue onto to see Chiang Mai’s old city walls, moat and gate, and local market.

Day 6 Half Day Doi Suthep and Meo Tour
This tour features a scenic drive through the most historic areas of Chiang Mai, including a pass through the old city walls, city gates and moat. The drive continues into Chiang Mai’s tourist attraction area, past the local market, foreign consulates, government buildings and ‘Tapae Gate’ before continuing to the acclaimed temple Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, home to a holy relic of the Lord Buddha and considered by many to be the most sacred Wat in northern Thailand. Tucked away in the mountains at an elevation of 1,056 meters (3520 feet), the temple is reached using a Naga (a 7- headed dragon head serpent) railing rising along both sides. The temple compound, accessed via 300 stairs, offers a beautiful view of Chiang Mai city and the surrounding countryside. Continue on to visit the primitive Meo Pui village, a local community known for its unique culture and colourful costumes.

Phi Phi island located just 48 km East of Phuket is renowned worldwide for its natural scenic beauty with silversand beaches fringed with palm trees, towering limestone cliffs and marine life. This morning you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the pier for the Phi Phi Islands. Arrive at Phi Phi Lay where you can explore the fantastic landscape of Maya Bay – the location where the movie “The Beach” was partially filmed. Enjoy swimming or snorkeling with the colourful fish and exploring Loh Samah Bay and Pileh Cove. Phi Phi Ley is also home to the Viking Cave, a large limestone cavern where ancient rock paintings can be found. These paintings are believed to resemble Viking ships and are predicted to be over 3000 years old. Due to the sea conditions we are not able to go ashore in the cave but admire it from our boat. Arrive at Phi Phi Don to enjoy more snorkeling or simply relaxing on the white sandy beach at Yong Kasem (Monkey Beach). Have lunch at a beachside restaurant (included). Later arrive at Bamboo Island for more free time on the beach, to feed the fish, swim or snorkel. Depart back to the pier, later this afternoon and onto your hotel.

Depart Ho Chi Minh on your flight to Da Nang, one of Vietnam’s major ports, situated on the coast of the South China Sea. Travel south to the picturesque ancient town of Hoi An, where people still wear the “ao dais”, Vietnam’s traditional dress. The ancient town of Hoi An, a World Heritage Site, was the most important trading ports in Southeast Asia in the 15th century. Its ancient past is superbly preserved in an enchanting collection of temples, pagodas, shop houses and magnificent private homes in the town’s Old Quarter. DAY 5, Friday – Full Day in Hoi An
Spend a full day at leisure discovering all of the delights of Hoi An independently. Walk through the Old City, stopping at one of the city’s many museums, or see artisans using age-old techniques to fashion a variety of crafts. Of special interest are the colorful and elaborate paper lanterns created by lantern artisans for which Hoi An is well known. Or, join the optional boat trip on the Thu Bon River visiting the Organic Village, including lunch. The boat trip begins at a local pier in the Old Town. You’ll cruise down streams and past many fishing areas before arriving in Kim Bong village, home of traditional woodworking and boat-building. Journey over the towering mountains to Hue, home to a wealth of palaces, temples, libraries and museums. Afternoon tour of this former Imperial capital, modeled after the Forbidden City in Beijing. Depart from Bangkok and fly to Singapore. Singapore is certainly a small country with a population of only 4 million but there are a large number of reasons to spend time here. It is very much a modern garden destination in many respects with its downtown skyscrapers and 50 parks and 4 nature reserves. But it also retains its old colourful districts which are influenced by the ethnic mix that exists here. Chinese, Malay and Indian cultures stand side by side and can also be seen individually in neighbourhoods such as Chinatown and Little India.
The attractive Singapore River dissects the city and one enjoyable experience is to stroll along its banks through Boat Quay and Clark Quay where one can eat, drink and take in the local neighbourhoods. Apart from the ethnicity of Singapore, another major attraction is the amazing shopping much of which is centered on Orchard Road but also in the many night markets. For the culturally inclined, there are art galleries, museums and a very contemporary performing arts centre.
Start your exploration of Singapore by visiting the downtown commercial core travelling by the Padang Cricket Club, Parliament House, the Supreme Court and City Hall. Then it’s on to MountFaber where you will have a wonderful panoramic view of the city and Sentosa Island. Next, enjoy the serene National Orchid Garden which is also known as the Botanical Gardens. 1 Pack Point
A packing checklist is a useful tool, what if someone could make that list for you?
All you do is input your destination and travel dates, and PackPoint will create a weather-specific packing list. The app will aks what you plan on doing while you’re there, and will make suggestions based on your answers — so you don’t forget your sneakers if you plan on working out or a business suit if you plan on going to some meetings.
2 WiFi Map
You don’t want to use roaming cell phone data to find a wifi hotspot, that can end up being costly. Use the crowdsourced WiFi Map app highlights hotspots around your current location and provides you with the password to use them.
Make sure to be careful what data you access when you’re connected to public WiFi.
You can also download maps to use offline (so you don’t burn through data looking for that hotspot), and a premium version of the app offers access to a bigger library of locations.
3 Google Translate
This is invaluable when traveling to a different country with a different language.
It can translate 103 different languages, just by typing the text into your phone.
Of those, 59 can be downloaded for access even when you don’t have a data connection, and 38 can be translated by pointing your phone’s camera at a street sign or dinner menu.
4 TravelBank
TravelBank bundles the budgets together, meaning you can fly coach instead of business and eat at nicer restaurants, or take the subway rather than cabs and stay at a nicer hotel.

Viber allows you to make phone calls using an internet or wifi connection to make calls to other users. Have your friends or family download this app so you can call them for free. You can also call numbers outside of the Viber user network for a fee. You can also send text messages.
8 Uber
Maybe you haven’t used Uber at home but it can come in handy when you are traveling.
Uber is currently in more countries than many other similar transportation services.
In places where you don’t speak the language, the app’s ability to type in your address can help cut down on any confusion between you and your driver.
9 SitOrSquat
The name might sound silly but The SitOrSquat app is loaded with more than 100,000 public restrooms and can pinpoint the nearest to your location. Bathrooms come with a rating — “Sit” if it is clean, or “Squat” if it’s not.
Users can rate toilets and add new ones to the database, and all locations can be searched by location, rating, whether or not they have a changing table, or whether or not they’re free to use.
10 Citymapper
This app is great for most major cities and helps you get around in a large city.
It offers transit maps with real-time departure information as well as disruption alerts and biking and walking directions.
City mapper will also make suggestions on the best train car to be in, as well as what station exit you should take when you arrive at your stop.

Here is a brief recap of the most important tips when it comes to money, costs and currency in Australia.
Australia is Expensive
Australia can be an expensive country to visit..
Food can be fairly cheap if you shop at the big brand supermarkets, Coles or Woolworths. Stick to their home brand products, and you can definitely survive on a budget.
Alcohol and cigarettes are the biggest expense, with a carton of beer costing upwards of $70 (Australian dollars) and a bottle of spirits starting at $30.
Australia can be done on a Budget
It is possible to travel in Australia on a budget. Keep an eye out for cheap flights and package deals with hotels, and fly during off-peak season. For the almost cheapest alcohol, head to a big liquor chain like First Choice or Dan Murphy’s for great weekly deals. If you’re doing an Australian road-trip, buy essentials items such as water and snacks in bulk at Coles or Woolworths, so you don’t need to keep re-purchasing them every day or two.
The Currency in Australia is the Australian Dollar
The currency used in Australia is the Australian Dollar. Keep an eye on the exchange rate, and if you have a trip already booked, exchange some cash each time the Dollar is decent. This is the best way ensure you’re getting good value for money, and aren’t losing too much in the conversion.
Tipping isn’t required in Australia. We don’t need to tip for any service, whether that’s in a restaurant, a Taxi or Uber driver or a hotel employee. The hourly rate in most companies and businesses is very decent, therefore tipping isn’t required.
Australia’s Liquor Laws are very Strict
The legal drinking age in Australia is 18 years old. In all states around Australia, you’ll be asked for ID if you look under 25 years old. In New South Wales, you’ll be asked for ID if you look under 40 years old. If you don’t have the acceptable form of ID, you will not be served.
An acceptable international form of ID can be a Passport or international drivers license (Northern Territory, New South Wales and Queensland only).

Australia is great for a wide range of cuisines and food choices. Whether you’re a picky eater, meat lover, seafood fan or vegan, there’s something for everyone. Most of the major cities have a seemingly endless amount of international cuisines.

The suburb of Mount Maunganui has been well-regarded for years for its top beaches and coastal lifestyle.
Many New Zealanders own holiday homes at “The Mount” as it is known. The beaches are numerous and safe for swimmers and surfers. The top spot for swimming is Main Beach, which is located at the foot of the mighty Mauao (Mount Maunganui) and faces the Pacific Ocean. On the opposite side of Mauao is the harbourside Pilot Bay, which is a launching pad for boats and kayaks. It’s also a shallow swimming spot ideal for families.
Mauao is the physical focal point of the coastal Bay of Plenty – a sacred place that dominates the landscape of the Tauranga area. Walking up and around Mauao is a must-do activity in the region.

The South Pacific is vast, stretching over 11 million miles from the top of Australia to the Hawaiian Islands. Filled with thousands of islands, some islands like Tahiti and Fiji are well known, while others are not so much known. Some islands are linked by non-stop flights from Los Angeles and some are only reachable by other connections. These islands are divided into three regions: Polynesia, Melanesia and Micronesia, each with its own cultural traditions, language variations, and culinary specialties. Polynesia
This easternmost South Pacific region, which includes Hawaii, counts idyllic Tahiti and mysterious Easter Island among its treasures. Its ocean-going settlers, originally from Southeast Asia, are renowned for their navigation, having survived arduous journeys in dugout canoes as early as 1500 B.C.
French Polynesia (Tahiti)
Made up of 118 islands, the most well known is Bora Bora, Tahiti is an independent nation with ties to France. With well- developed tourism on a dozen islands, Tahiti has been luring travelers for five decades with overwater bungalows, French-influenced cuisine, and exotic culture. Enjoy swimming, snorkeling, surfing and more on this island.
These islands are lesser-known than neighboring Tahiti, these 15 islands are named for English explorer Captain James Cook and run as a self-governing nation with ties to New Zealand, are home to 19,000 people renowned for their drumming and dancing. Tourists generally visit the main island of Rarotonga and small lagoon-caressed Aitutaki. Try snorkeling and diving; also a great place for destination weddings!
Samoa
This group of nine islands was the first in the Pacific to gain independence from western occupation. Upolu is the main island and tourism hub, but life here is still governed by Fa’a Samoa (The Samoan Way), where family and elders are respected and its 362 villages are presided over by 18,000 matai (chiefs). Visit the jungles, waterfalls, try a hike, and go swimming!
American Samoa
Marketed as “Where America’s sunsets,” this U.S. territory, with its singsong capital Pago Pago (on main island Tutuila), consists of five volcanic islands totaling just 76 square miles and a population of 65,000. Its tropical rainforests and marine sanctuaries are superb.
Tonga
This island kingdom straddles the western side of the International Dateline (Tongans are first to greet the new day) and consists of 176 islands, 52 inhabited. The present king, His Majesty King George Tupou V, has ruled his nation’s 102,000 people since 2006, residing in the capital, Nuku’alofa, on the main island Tongatapu. Explore deserted islands and sand spits, drop anchor along the way and explore some amazing coral reefs.
Easter Island (Rapa Nui)
Easter Island was settled by the Polynesians about 1,500 years ago and discovered by the Dutch (on Easter Sunday in 1722, hence the name), this remote 63-square-mile island is home to about 5,000 people and 800 moai, giant stone statues. Owned by Chile, the island offers rugged beauty and a blend of cultures.
Melanesia
These islands, located west of Polynesia and south of Micronesia – among them Fiji and Papua New Guinea – are known for their many ceremonial rituals and customs, elaborate body tattoos and wood-carving techniques.
Fiji
Consisting of 333 islands, this welcoming nation of about 85,000 people – all of whom love to shout their exuberant greeting, “Bula!” every chance they get – is known for its luxurious private-island resorts and superb diving. The main island, Viti Levu, home to the international airport at Nadi, is the hub from which tourists fan out to Vanua Levu and resorts in the pristine Yasawa and Mamanuca islands. Catch a ferry, go swimming or snorkeling in Fiji!
This republic is three hours by air from Australia. It has about 221,000 people . Its 83 islands are mostly mountainous and are home to several active volcanoes. Vanuatans speak 113 languages, but all celebrate life with a series of rituals and events, making it a fascinating spot to visit. The capital is Port Vila on Efate island.
Papua New Guinea
Wedged between Australia and Southeast Asia, this is a must-see for adventurers. Covering 182,700 square miles (the eastern half of New Guinea Island and 600 other islands) and home to 5.5 million people (who speak 800 languages – although English is official), it is a prime spot for bird watching and expedition trekking. The capital is Port Moresby.
Micronesia
This northernmost sub-region is comprised of thousands of small (hence the term micro) islands. Best known is the U.S. territory of Guam, but other isles such as Palau and Yap have hidden pleasures (such as incredible dive sites) and eccentric oddities (such as giant stones used as currency).
Guam
This 212-square-mile island (Micronesia’s largest with 175,000 people) may be a U.S. territory, but its unique Chamorro culture and language is a blend of 300 years of Spanish, Micronesian, Asian and western influences. As Continental Airlines’ South Pacific hub, Guam has excellent airlift and is the region’s melting pot.
Palau
Well-known to divers, who claim its waters are some of the planet’s best, this 190-square-mile republic (made up of 340 islands, nine of them inhabited) was featured a few years ago on “Survivor.” Independent since 1994 and home to 20,000 sociable people (two-thirds of whom live in and around the capital Koror), Palau also offers stunning forests, waterfalls, and amazing beaches.
Yap
One of four Federated States of Micronesia, Yap is steeped in ancient traditions – most notably its stone money discs and its raucous dancing. Its 11,200 people are shy but welcoming and its diving is excellent (giant manta rays are abundant).

DAY 6, Thursday – Xian Antiquities Tour with Terracotta Army
This morning, after breakfast you will have the opportunity to visit Xingqing Park. Filled with culture, this local park is a hub of activity in the morning. You may witness and have the chance to participate in morning exercise, singing, and dancing. Later, visit a lacquer furniture shop. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant before a tour of Xian’s antiquities. Your tour includes the archaeological site at the tomb of China’s first emperor, Qin Shi Huang (259-210 B.C.), where more than 8,000 finely sculpted, life-size terracotta soldiers and horses were discovered by local farmers in 1974. DAY 8, Saturday – Shanghai City Tour
This morning, take a tour of the major attractions of Shanghai. Wander the classical Yuyuan Garden, built during the Ming Dynasty by the high-ranking government official Pan Yunduan. The Gardens’ total area occupies approximately five acres, and features pavilions, ponds, rockeries, cloisters, and streams all within six scenic zones, including the Sansui Hall and Wanhua Chamber. In existence for 400 years, the gardens were specifically constructed for Pan’s aging parents as a sanctuary in which to live out their lives. Next, experience the old world charm of the Bund, the former “Wall Street” of the foreign powers. Walk along its park-like waterfront promenade between the Wusong River and Old Town. Later, stop at a silk carpet and embroidery shop. Continue with a visit the Jade Buddha Temple which is the most famous and one of the most active Buddhist temples in Shanghai. It was built during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty to enshrine two beautiful jade Buddha statues that were brought from Burma. Spend the remainder of the afternoon at leisure.
