When is the Best Time to Visit The Greek Islands
The Greek Islands are a beautiful place to visit, with plenty of idyllic beaches, culture and more to see. The Islands tend to be less busy during the summer months, but when is the best time to plan a visit?
Spring:
The Spring offers plenty of spots on the beaches as the islands are less busy in Spring than during Summer months. It is also a great time for rafting, kayaking, hiking and outdoor activities. The islands’ hills and mountains are filled with thousands of colorful wildflowers and blossoming almond trees! Don’t forget about wild herbs such as rosemary, mint, basil and oregano.
Summer:
The summer months are the most popular and also the priciest time for visiting the Greek islands. You can sunbathe on pristine, award-winning beaches, go sailing and yachting and more. Summer is also when you will find the best local produce, from vegetables, fresh fish, cheese, and local wines.
Autumn:
You will find the Greek Islands are beautiful this time of year with the changing of the leaves. The sea is still warm enough for a swim, the winds are calmer for sailing and resorts are less crowded. It also will be less expensive than visiting in the summer. Don’t miss out on the harvest of olives, grapes and wine.
Winter:
Some of the smaller islands shut down, but many still are alive and open to tourists during the winter. The average temperature is around 50 degrees, so it is a lot more pleasant than many US locations.
