Itinerary
Day 1: Sydney - Canberra (187 miles/3 hrs)
On arrival at Sydney airport, you’ll be met and assisted with picking up your rental car. Begin your drive to Canberra. En route visit the historic township of Berrima in the beautiful southern highlands; explore the village square, and admire the picturesque buildings.
Overnight: Canberra, Crowne Plaza Canberra (standard) or Hyatt Canberra (boutique)
Day 2: Canberra - Albury (221 miles/4 hrs)
Depart Canberra on the Barton Highway to the town of Yass. Join the Hume Highway and travel via the towns of Gundagai and Holbrook to arrive at Albury.
Overnight: Albury, Quality Resort Siesta (standard) or Chifley Albury (boutique)
Day 3: Albury - Metung (224 miles/4 hrs)
Depart Albury and travel to Metung, a picturesque town overlooking Bancroft Bay. A side trip to Bairnsdale offers an opportunity to explore lakes, rivers, mountains and forests.
Overnight: Metung, The Moorings at Metung (standard) or Chestnut Hill Country Retreat (boutique)
Day 4: Metung - Foster (138 miles/ 2 1/2 hrs)
Explore the scenic Lakes District and take a drive to the coastal town of Lakes Entrance. This afternoon, join the Princes Highway to Sale. Take the South Gippsland Highway through Longford, Woodside, Welshpool, and on to Foster. 
Overnight: Foster, Comfort Inn Foster (standard) or The Vereker House (boutique) for 2 nights
Day 5: Wilsons Promontory
A full day at leisure to explore this stunning area.
Day 6: Foster - Phillip Island (62 miles/1 hr)
Depart Foster and travel to beautiful Phillip Island, home to Little Penguins, fur seals and other Australian wildlife.
Overnight: Phillip Island, The Waves Apartments (standard) or Glen Isla House (boutique)
Day 7: Phillip Island - Melbourne (87 miles/1 1/2 hrs)
Depart Phillip Island through Cranbourne to the town of Lyndhurst, where you join the Princes Highway to Melbourne. Return your rental car at Melbourne City or Melbourne airport.
